The Indians took nine bouts and allowed the Falcons just five as the Indians inched that much closer to the SOL National Conference title. Only Abington stands in the way of North's first championship since 2006.

Tri- captain, David Giannaula (152) got Council Rock North off to a good start with a four pointer. Dave racked up eleven points allowing the Falcon's, George Peel, just one on an escape. Pennsbury got three back in the 160 pound bout, but then North took three in a row including a couple of pins.

The Falcon's Ray Robinson was no match for the Indian's Tom Clark (171). Tom turned Robinson to his back and with just two ticks left, the referee called the pin at 1:58 of the first period .

Next came the marquee match of the evening that pitted North's Jamie Callender against Pennsbury's previously undefeated Matt Johnson. This one was a real slug fest for one period, but midway through the second period Jamie caught Johnson near the edge of the mat and turned him to his back and it was all over in 3:07. Those two are going to have some classic battles in the post season, guaranteed.

In the 215 bout it was North's John Kaschak against Pennsbury's Kevin Bree. This one looked like it could go either way as these two traded points for two periods. The score was tie late in the third period, but John managed a takedown to cap the 8 - 6 win for the Indians. The team score at the turn was 19 North 9 Pennsbury.

It was Micah Haynes' turn at 103 which started a string of four in a row for North. Micah totally dominateing PB's Robert Daniels scoring a 15 - 0 technical fall in just 3:45.

In the 112 bout Shane Longstreth came up one point short of a major, scoring a 10 - 3 decision over the Falcon's Jeff Lieb.

Allan Slezak (119) took on  Pennsbury's senior Pat Hyland. Allan shutout the Falcon  4 - 0 to run the team score to 30 - 9.

Pennsbury coach Joe Keifer flip-flopped his 125 and 130 wrestlers in a move to gain a few points. That stratagy was spoiled as Zac Haynes (125) pinned Paul Mier in just 0:09 and Brian Murray (130) was able to hold Matt Funk to just a decision. Net gain three points, putting the score at 36 - 12. With three bouts to go there was no way Pennsbury could win the match, even though they took the 135 and 140 bouts.

Greg Lanctot (145) slammed the door in 0:42 of the second period pinning Pennsbury's Steve Haley which saw Council Rock North defeat the Falcons 42 - 19 and move one step closer to the SOL title.

Its been a busy couple of days for the boys from Newtown. First a two and a half hour ride, on Tuesday evening, up to Mountaintop PA to take on Hazelton in the first round of State Duals and then Wednesday's  match with Pennsbury. On Friday they will travel to Hershey's Giant Center to wrestle Connellsville in the second round of States at 10:00am.  With the way the team has been wrestling there's a pretty good chance they'll still be it on Saturday. The gas tank looks pretty full, let's hope there's enough for a few more miles.

But wait, that's not all, there is still one little bit of business to take care of. After a couple of days rest, after States, the Indians will host the Galloping Ghosts from Abington on Tuesday, February 10th for the SOL National Conference championship. It is also senior night so, if you can, come out and bid a fond fairwell to the senior members of the 2008 - 2009 squad.
